Dreamed Someone You Love Died? Here's What It Usually Means
You woke up from a dream that someone you love died, and the first question is "are they going to die?" Almost always, no. A death dream is usually an ending: the end of a season, a role, or a version of yourself. In this biblical teaching I walk through the four questions to ask before you interpret any death dream, why peace inside the dream means something different from terror, and why dreaming your own death is the most hopeful dream you'll have.
Death dreams are one of the dreams people panic about, and they're covered in full in the Dream Decoder Masterclass alongside being chased, sleep paralysis, and loved ones who've already passed. 2 hours 49 minutes, 16 chapters, lifetime access. $97 at the founding price until Sunday, Oct 11, then $147:

You just woke up from a terrifying dream about death. Someone you cared about deeply, your husband, your wife, your mother, your brother, your sister, your niece, your nephew. Someone that means so much to you, you saw them in a dream and they were dead, and probably laying in the casket and you're wondering, why am I saying this? Are they literally going to die? What does it mean? I want to help you to understand why you have death dreams and it's not always what you think. Again, dreams are not always literal, they are symbolic of something that is happening in your waking life, in real life, so you need to pay attention to that. So here's what a death dream typically means, I want to go over that. A death dream is usually an ending. What that mean is sometimes you you see a death dream, someone who died, you call them the next day morning just to hear their voice again. Well, it's not that the person is dead, but it usually signifies the ending of a specific season with that person, the ending of a relationship. So sometimes when you are in a relationship with someone and you have a death dream about them, there's usually symbolizing that okay, it is time maybe for that relationship to come to an end or an aspect of that relationship has to go. This is where you need to pay attention to it, and you want to make sure that you are not rushing and jumping into conclusion. Something is finishing, the question is what? What exactly is finishing in that particular relationship or that situation? If you don't know what that is, you don't want to rush, because again, if you rush, you can go and do something that will cause more harm than good. Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed, but if it dies, it produces many seeds, John twelve twenty four. Now, let's say this out loud first, okay? The dream is a prediction and someone I love is going to die. That's what we're feeling, right? This is what people fear. When you have dreams about loved ones that are dead, about colleagues that are dead, about people you know that are dead, you automatically assume that they are going to die. That is not the case. Most of the times, it's not the case. Now, of course, I've had dreams in the past where I saw someone and they they didn't die for another... For a long period of time, but God was just showing me that this person's time is up. And other times, I've had dreams about people dying that I knew, and God was telling me this relationship, this partnership, this thing must come to an end. So here's what what happens, death and dreams most often marks the end of a season, a role or a version of yourself. So there are three things that could happen when you're having death dreams. You have... It's coming to a season of your life that has to end, a role that you've been playing that needs to end, maybe you're working at a specific job somewhere, you're doing something somewhere and that dream is telling you that role comes to an end or a version of yourself that needs to die. What I mean die is, you know, it's it's time for you to end it, it's time for you to reinvent yourself into something that is more connecting to your purpose. The thing is you have to know what that thing is. Four questions before interpreting any dreams about death that you must ask. Who died in the dream? Was it you, was it a stranger, or someone that you know? This is significant because when you have a dream that you died, it's not saying that you're going to always die most of the times. It's saying there's a part of you that needs to die. There's a part of you that has a certain level of pride that you need to let go. If it's a stranger or is it someone that you know, it could be that that relationship with that person, there has to be a segment of that that comes to an end. Sometimes God will cut out certain people out of your life to bring new people in, because in order for a seed to grow first, it dies and then it grows and bears much fruit. So there's certain relationships in your life that in order for you to get to your next level, they must come to an absolute end. What did they represent? People in dreams often carry trait and other... And not the identity. What did this person represent to you? What role did they play in your life? I think that's another key thing because when you understand the role that the person you saw die in your life or in the dream, that is going to help you to understand who they represented. So for example, you see someone that you used to date before die in a dream or someone that you're dating die in a dream. It's not saying that they're literally going to die, it's just saying that that relationship served its purpose. If someone you dealt with in the past, God is telling you, let it go, end it, you know, just keep moving. If someone that you're with now and you keep having that dream and you've... This person is dies in your dream, God can be telling you there's time for that relationship to come to an end. The third question that you have to ask before interpreting a death dream is, where were you grieving or were you calm? Your emotion is part of the message. When you have a dream that someone has passed on and you are grieving, you are crying, you know, that's to let you know that you haven't made peace with letting go of that person yet. You haven't made peace of letting go with that relationship, that job, or that opportunity, or that version of yourself yet. Sometimes, one of the hardest things is to accept change. So, what would we do? We'll resist it, we'll resist it until life teaches us a lesson, until life breaks us, then we're able to release it. So, were you grieving? If you were calm, that is to let you know that you've made peace with it, and you're okay to move on. You can't try to restart something that is already, you know, dead, so you move on from there. But again, you want to watch the emotions that you have when you have dreams about seeing people that are dead in your dreams. And the fourth question is, what ended recently? The dream usually follows a real ending. What in your life ended or is coming to an end? When you pay attention to the seasons of your life, you have a clear picture if you're listening to what's coming to an end and what's starting. So when you're having a dream about death, you want to ask yourself, what recently just ended in my life? Or what recently do I feel is coming to an end? Maybe you're in a relationship and you feel that relationship has served its purpose, you know, and you want to move on. Maybe it's a job, you've been at that job for whatever period of time and you feel that it's time to lift that job, or you're in a different city, it's time to move or it's time to stay, but you ask yourself what recently ended in your life. Who was it and how did you feel about it? Your own death is the most hopeful one. Now, what that mean is that when you die, it's not just a literal death. You know, dreaming your own death usually means a version of you is finishing. The striver, the people pleaser, you know, trying to make everybody happy, you're not focusing on your purpose. That dream could be letting you know that, hey, you focus enough on other people, now it's time for you to focus on yourself. Ask who died in a dream, then ask what part of you has been dying all year. You know, we have to... Jesus said that Luke nine twenty three, if anyone desires to come after him, he must first deny himself, barely pick up his cross and follow him. That is the death to self. So a virgin, he has to die. Now, Romans six and six says that our old self was crucified with them so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with. Was it the first word you would use to describe... What is the first word you would use to describe that person that often let you know people carry traits, not just a verdict, okay? When you think about that person, what comes to mind? Were they loving? Were they caring? Were they rude? Were they nasty? Were they disrespectful? Whatever it is. Now, people come into your life for a reason, a season, and a lifetime. So, you have dreams about someone dying, is to let you know that they've either fulfilled their purpose in your life for that season, they've come to do what they needed to do, maybe it was one lesson that you had to learn from them, whatever it is, you have to think about the particular trait that that person brought in you. I know that for me, I've had times in my life where I was close to someone as a teenager, a woman that I met at church, she was a great mother figure to me, and she helped me in that season of my life. And after about, I don't know, maybe two months, three months or so, I never heard from her again, and I never saw her even to this day. But during those periods of my life, she was so helpful to me spiritually, emotionally, you know. So, you want to make sure that you're paying attention to that. A parent often carries authority or covering, a sibling carry rivalry or likeness, an ex carry an old pattern, you know, you thought you left. So you want to pay attention to the involvement that you have with that person. Don't call them and tell them they're dying when you have a dream. Don't don't call them and start to panic, I had a dream that you're going to die. No. No. Ask what they represent and pray about it first. You always want to pray before you jump into conclusion. Genesis forty one eleven, we both had dreams and each dream had a meaning of its own. So every dream have a significant meaning that you need to pay attention to. Were you afraid or were you at peace? The feeling is half the meaning. Some dreams, as I mentioned before, some dreams you get them and you're terrified. Other dreams you wake up and you're calm. Peace isn't peace inside a death dream, it's often God walking you through the transition before it actually happened. I've had times in my life that I had so much peace about some relationships that were coming to an end. I had so much peace. That was God's will for letting me know, hey, it's okay. I'm going to send the right people in your life. I'm removing so and so, remove these people, these types of people, and I'm going to bring the right people. When you're feeling terror, it's more of your own fear, your grief, you haven't processed it, you haven't come to the conclusion that it's okay to let this person go, the situation go, this role go, and you're still fighting it. And it's going to take a lot of back and forth until you get to a point of surrender for that thing to actually change. Write down the feeling before the details. Peace and panic point in opposite directions. So if it's peace, is you've come to an agreement that you know what, to closure, it's okay. If it's not peace, then you still have issues letting that go. Philippians four and seven says, the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your heart and your mind. So God wants to give you peace. What ended in your life in the last ninety days? You want to look at it. The dream usually follows a real ending. So when certain things come to an end, a relationship, a partnership, an opportunity, a job role, different locations, it usually follows something happen. A friendship, a move, a church, you know, your career, maybe you've been in a specific place for years and then all of a sudden now, you got to go through that transition and you have dream about death. Well, God is letting you know that, okay, you're transitioning now, now it's time for you to grieve it, it's okay to grieve, but then you got to move on, because there's this part of the change, it's the one thing that's always going to happen. Before you fight before you fight it, name what already ended, grief it... Grief is not an attack. So you want to grieve, take the time you need to grieve, but don't stay there. Ecclesiastes three and one and two says, there is a time for everything, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot. So you've probably come to a season where it's time for you to uproot some things and that's perfectly fine. Now, I want to say this prayer with, you know, say this prayer with me. Father, take the fear I woke up with. It's been sitting on me for days. Show me what is really ending and give me the grace to let it end. Cover the people I love and keep my mind from writing stories you never told. What falls to the ground in your hands does not stay buried. I trust you with the harvest. So here's what you're going to live with and you've learned tonight. You know what the dream was really about, you know what the ending season is, and you have a prayer that you can pray over yourself today. So don't be afraid of death dream, just pay attention to the message and then take the necessary action. Always pray over them. And you can book a clarity session at the bottom of this video, to understand your dream, to get clarity in the direction that you, you know, you feel God wants you to go in, And I do a free fifteen minute dream interpretation that'll bring clarity and bring guidance and direction to your life.
