Day 3: You've Been Searching for Something God Never Hid

You're struggling to find God's purpose for your life. You're struggling to figure out what am I doing on earth? Why am I here? And oftentimes people tell you, you know, go out, go search for it, go look for it and you'll find it. Well, today I wanna help you to bring clarity so you can stop the search. On this one hundred days of purpose, one of the things that I wanna accomplish is that I wanna help you to not just find out what your purpose is, but to live on purpose. My goal for this one hundred days is that every day I release something that's going to help you bring clarity to the next phase of your life. To help you to find out why am I on planet earth? What is my purpose? What is my assignment? So today, we're gonna take a look at the search. If you're searching for your purpose, if you're looking for your purpose, well, episode is gonna help you do just that. So let's get started. And I wanna tell you this that you can actually stop the search. Stop searching. We believe this lie that, you know, that keeps good people from looking instead of living. It keeps you from actually enjoying life. It keeps you from living on purpose and and you're under this assumption that you have to, you know, do something to find this purpose. Well, I wanna help you to understand what that means today. You can read books, listen to podcasts, go to conferences, prayer journals, years of looking, you know, move to another country, maybe another state, move to maybe even another planet. Right? What if it was never lost in the first place? What if what you've been looking for has always been right in front of your face? You've been searching for something God never hid and that's what I want to help you to understand today. Jeremiah one and five, this is a really popular verse and it says this, before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart. That right there should let you know that before you were in your mother's womb, God knew you, God had everything already set for you, he wasn't trying to hide your purpose from you, he's not trying to have you go on this maze that you gotta go left, you gotta go right, you gotta go this way, it's always right in front of you but you've probably just been looking in the wrong direction and I'm gonna help you to correct that today. So here is the lie that keeps you looking. You believe that your purpose is hidden somewhere out there and if I search hard enough I will find it. If I just keep searching, if I just keep looking, maybe if I move to another state I'll find it. If I move to another country, I'll find it. If if I just do this, if I do that. So you've been going on this long search over and over and at the end of it all, you realize that you are back at square one again. But here's the truth and here's the reality. The purpose was placed in you and it gets revealed as you walk. God's purpose is already within you. It's not something that you have to go search for. And that's why you see so many times, especially with famous people, celebrities, they go after the fame, after the fortune, that's what's gonna make me happy, that's what my purpose is. And most of the times, almost all the times when they get it, they realize this is not it. I'm not more happy because I have more money, I'm Yes, I'm more I'm comfortable, I'm content, but this is not my purpose, something else is missing. What is that thing? Something is missing. So that's the difference that you got to understand. God's purpose is not hidden, God's purpose is already within you from the day before you were formed in the womb God already knew. So here are the four reasons this lie holds so many for so long and it's probably holding you back as well. Number one, searching feels like progress. Looking for it is easier than living it. You think if I keep searching, I'm making progress. If I keep moving, I'm making progress. If I keep dodging, if I keep bouncing back and forth to different things, maybe I lived in one state for a few months, now this not it, I gotta move somewhere else. You go to another state or you go to someplace else, at the end of the day you realize that nothing has really changed. Lie number two, everyone else looks certain. You're comparing your your your fog to their highlight reel. In other words, you look at their lives and you go, wow, they got a perfect life. Man, I look at their reel, I'm looking at their, you know, they're on vacation, they're doing all these things, so that means that, you know, they must be certain about it. When what you don't realize is they are they are just it's empty, if not more than you. They are searching for that thing more than you know it. Number three, we want the whole map first. God gives you, God gives light for one step at a time. You want the whole light, you wanna see everything, you wanna know everything, you just gotta know. No, I gotta know. I need to know everything. That's not how it works. God is going to give you a step at a time. It's all about the journey. It's all about the progress that you make. That's why the bible said that the steps of a righteous man are what they're ordered by God. What does that mean? Every step that you take, you gotta trust him. God, I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow but I'm gonna trust you. I don't see my next step or my next steps, I'm gonna trust you that you're going to lead me to the right things. I'm gonna trust you that as I step out in faith, father lead me, connect me with the right relationships. Line number four, search and protect us from failing or from falling. If you never start, you can never be wrong. You have this false thing that, you know, it it protects you from from failing that, know, I don't wanna fail. You know, there's something called the fear of the unknown. A lot of us have it. You're stepping into new territory and you're not really sure, you know, what's going on, is this gonna work, is it not gonna work, you know, do I keep going, do I step back, God is this you, is this not you? If you haven't experienced that before, I guarantee you at some point in your life, you keep living long enough, you are going to or maybe you've already experienced that where you're trying to figure out where am I going? There's this fear of the unknown that you have and you've had it for a long time. Now, how many years have you been looking? Some people been looking their whole lives. Searching feels like progress and when in reality sometimes searching is just a delay, it just drags you because you go in circles, you go in a loop, another book, another sermon, another journal, another relationship, another this, another that, it feels productive, nothing in your life change at the end. If I can just get something else, would think consuming teaching about purpose is the same as pursuing it? It isn't, it is not. Learning about your calling is not the same as answering it. James one twenty two, do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourself, do what it says. We live in a society that we just have to get another this. Sometimes people think, man, if I can just start that new relationship, man, it is going to be great. No, that's exactly what I need. You start that relationship after, I don't know, months, everything looks great and then you realize this not it, something is still missing. You know, I'm gonna quit my job or I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna travel, I'm gonna do all this and you you do the things that you have on your list and when you accomplish those things, you're like, nah, something is still missing, this is not it. Whose certainty are you measuring yourself against? Everyone else looks certain, you see people they look certain, they look like they're happy, but in reality, man, they're going through a whole lot. They're going through a whole lot. You don't see the years they spend being unsure and for those that are sure, right, there are not too many people for those that are sure, you don't see the behind the scene that they went through. You don't see the challenges, you don't see, you know, all the the the pushback they had, you don't see the the the nice one had to cry themselves to sleep and not not really sure how things were gonna pan out, you don't see all of them. You assume clarity come to them all at once, it did not. For almost everyone it came in pieces. You are not going to get everything at once. You're comparing your beginning to someone else's middle. Now here's what the word of God says. Galatians six four, each one should test their own actions then they can take pride in themselves alone without comparing themselves to someone else. Stop comparing yourself to other people. Your journey is different. Your story is different. Your path is different. The challenges that you face, the decisions that you have to make, it's all different based on where God has taken you, where your life is going. So you can't compare. What would you do if you only knew the next step? We want the whole map first, everything. You know, we wanna see the detours, you know, the the streets that are messed up, you know, the the under construction, we wanna see the whole thing so we avoid those things. Well, that's not the reality. You've prayed for a five year plan, God keeps handing you a single next step and waiting. He keeps telling you, I cannot show you the whole picture because I want you to trust me. We call the wisdom to wait for the full picture. Often is the fear wearing better clothes. It's not wisdom, it's just fear. God gives light for the steps you're on, not the staircase you imagine. He's gonna show you, okay, this is what's coming, you gotta deal with it. Psalm one nineteen one and five, this one, you know, popular verse, your word is a lamp unto my feet, a light on my path. What are you protecting yourself from? Search and protect us from failing. Right? You think that if I search then I'm not gonna fail. As long as you're still finding your purpose, you never have to risk being bad at it because you gotta keep searching. It's a journey that you gotta go on. You know, we think that when we're being careful, we're you know, we're being saved from the possibility of failing as something that matters. You're gonna fail, that is just part of the journey. You cannot fail at something you never start. That's exactly the problem. You can't fail at something you never start, so you got to give it a shot. Ecclesiastes 11 to four, whoever watches the wind will not paint, whoever looks at the cloud will not reap. God did not hide your purpose from you, he placed it in you and asked you to move. The searching can stop, the walking has to start. You got to stop searching, it's within you, it's inside of you, not located somewhere else. That's why you see people sometimes move to another country, still feel empty. Start a new relationship, still feel empty. Start a new high paying job, new opportunities and still fill that void because it's not something that you're gonna just look for, it's already inside of you. What actually gets revealed, purpose is revealed in motion not in meditation alone. This is how nearly every call and and scripture unfolded. When you begin to take action, as you begin to move, that is when your purpose is you okay, you begin to move in there and that's how it's revealed to you. It's not revealed to you when you're home sitting around and doing nothing, it's not revealed to you when you complain, it's revealed to you as you begin to go in the direction that you feel your heart is tugging you toward. It can start with the passion. And I did the video about the passion and you guys can watch that video, make sure you check that out. So here's what you do, take the next obedient steps. Okay? The one you already know to take, it may not be 100% clear, but it's gonna be clear enough for you to take it. Watch what happens, the fruit, doors and the response of others. That is how you begin to see what has happened. I'll take that step and then adjust and take the next step. Clarity compound as you move. You're gonna have to, you know, take the next step in obedience, watch what happens and then you got to make adjustments. If it's not the right one, readjust, if it's the right one, keep going. Everything is not always gonna be cleared, but that's why you need the Lord to be there with you. And when he's there with you, then you're able to continue to move. Now this while the lie holds, you know, studying isn't answering. There's certainty took years to accomplish. Those that seem certain, it didn't happen overnight. One step of light is enough. One step searching can be a hiding place. Searching can be a hiding place. You can search for decades and never find it.
